As the blade opens and comes to rest against the "back spring" the "liner lock" mechanism firmly comes into position to hold the blade fixed until you release the "lock." In the locked open position you will notice "no motion" in any direction.... the blade is firmly positioned. This lack of motion or movement is a true characteristic of an excellent knife and of a consistent high level of quality control in manufacturing.
